Languages have never been my favorite subject! But when I got the results of my mocks I realised I had to do something. It was hard work but with Paul’s help my grade in Spanish went from ‘D’ in my GCSE mock to ‘A’ for the real thing. Then I went on holiday to Spain and found I could actually speak Spanish!
I had tried but failed to enthuse my son about languages and tried but failed to help with a strategy for doing Spanish homework and learning vocab. He insisted that he was no good at languages and so there was no point in trying! The school was supportive but somehow Paul managed to get through to him and quickly identified the areas that could be worked on to best effect in the time available. As a result my son’s confidence grew and and he started to put in the effort that was needed to take his grade from ‘D’ in the mocks to ‘A’ at GCSE a term and a half later. Paul was a delight as a tutor. Totally reliable and unflappable. I just wish I had found him sooner.
